Come Stay And Be My Guest!!

Be our guest Be our guest put our service to the test!! That’s what they say at Disney but have you ever extended your home for guest to stay the night and invite them to relax in your guest room? Well my husband and I had the chance to do just that but I can’t say it was a planed invite but all the more they were definitely invited.
It was the month of October year 2006 Buffalo NY, had a surprising storm now famously known as the October storm, there was snow and all the leaves were still on the trees and before we knew it the storm had knocked down trees, power lines with people left in the dark with cold homes and forced to deal with the environment of a surprise storm.
Well to make a long story short my husband and I were the fortunate ones who happen to be left with lights, warmth and Television. Wow how did we become so blessed!!! Well it turns out that it was a plan by God to help the other people who weren’t so fortunate to live in the warmth. OK I don’t see how I can make this story short but needless to say we told 15 people to be our guest. And guess what? We only had one guest room but more importantly my parents were the most fortunate ones because they were the ones who took precedence but none the less everyone in the house felt welcomed.
My parents had the pleasure of staying in our guest room for four nights. I think they were comfortable for at least a few of the days. My husband and I managed to be good host for all the family who stayed with us and even managed to keep the bathrooms clean. Check out the picture of the storm then check the guestroom that my parents had the pleasure of staying in. while you’re at it check out the other inspiring beautiful guest rooms that I found.

Pictures of the October storm!! Snow in October!! Wow I don't miss them days.

Well this is the Guestroom my parents had the pleasure of staying in. Sometimes I think the guest was more comfortable then me but I wouldn't have it any other way. Here are the amenities they were welcome to. Coffee, robes ,TV and not to mention a desk to rest the laptop. It was truly as if  there were no storm outside.

I love how simple this room is, not a lot of stuff just enough to be a guest and leave.

"Love the two beds"

Its nothing like having a comfortable guestroom to stay and have your own bathroom now that's the hotel life.

Now what can I say!! This Guestroom is beautiful, just look at all the patterns that were used by the designer. This room even has a place for baby, now you cant get better than that.

love this room with pops of yellow and the simplicity of the bedding!! Lovely

WOW!! Now this is a bed I will love to be the guest here.

This is a great guestroom it has all the amenities that a guest will need while staying the night. The desk with the computer and the breakfast in bed!! Nice.

How Beautiful is this. Designer Sarah Richardson really out did herself on this one I absolutely love the wallpaper with the green headboard up against it. Wow

This room is very charming and inviting whoever own this room please call me and invite me to be your guest. I love this room!! Comes with gifts and all.

Now check out this contemporary guest bedroom this is soooo amazing I think I need to take a long vacation so I can stay for a while!! This room rocks

This Guest bedroom is astonishing look how aerie and spacious it is. love it !!!

Remarkable is all I can say about this its so lovely and unexpected.

This room I just looove because I designed it so there is a little  bias here- The homeowner decided to go with two beds in their guestroom and the guest loved every moment of it, so I was told.
Having a guestroom also allow you to decorate in designs that you wouldn't normally do check out how the designer used all different patterns and colors!!!  "Where there is fear there is no creativity" said so well by (Christopher Lowell) This is a design I call NO Fear. Very nicely done...

So let me know your thoughts. Are you the perfect guest host? and if you live in the Buffalo NY area what were you doing during the October storm?

Bold Room Colors

Getting BOLD with it!

This is bold design at its best. The designer who designed this room went for the jugular and brought it home. When I was researching bold interiors I came across this lovely design done by panacheinteriors and boy was I impressed with this design. If you were afraid of going bold before. If nothing else I’m sure this room boosts your confidence.
Hmmm what should I say?? Getting stripy with it… WOW this designer wasn’t afraid at all taking two bold patterns and bringing them together to bring complimentary and interest this is bold gone wild!!! Love it. Done by designer Wendy Blount
If you were looking for a Bold date!! The color Orange would be your guy/girl because the color Orange most of the time screams Bold. This room (above) raves with the color orange or should I say Terra-Cotta + Peach the designer wasn’t at all afraid to use different shade of orange in this lovely room.
Give me the green light!!!  I would love to eat in this Beautiful Bold Green Dining room I’m ready to go right now. I got an obsession for this room. Green happens to be one of my favorite colors Give me the green light I’m ready to get
BOLD with it.

Should I say !!  I only want to see you in the Purple Rain
What a beautiful Modern bold purple room. This room is amazing !! The pattern blue wallpaper is peeking through with much authority but some how it  works with the purple curtains.. This room can rain purple on me all day.

The yellow art in this room is making a statement against these white walls
It shows intense contrast  done right. Love it !!!

LOVELY!!  If this isn't Bold I don't know what is, this is called color and pattern confidence by the client and amazing work by the designer. Room created by: Dana's design studio

So go ahead tell me what you think!! Are you ready to get BOLD with it? Come on and SCREAM  Bold with it and leave me a comment on this bold post.

Which Color Should I Use?

When faced with a room in need of a new look, the question most often asked are which colors should I use? And how do I merge them? “When choosing color ourselves it can be somewhat of a daunting proposition.
When trying to develop the skill of color confidence to create a room that is quite but not dull, or vibrant but not loud, it is helpful to learn some basic color vocabulary.

This post color language is Hue

Hue- is just another word for color the terms hue and color are used interchangeably in art and interior design.  Lets look at some room examples and you would soon see that the word color and hue are one in the same.

Rich, sunny orange paint on the upper walls (above) bright against the white woodwork illuminates the space and creates a bold looking room. The dominating hue in this room is orange.
This green is a happy hue, perfect for kid rooms. This color is infusing bedroom with warmth and brightness for kids. In this room the bold hue is on the furniture and the walls are in a very subtle white which makes the hue green (color) pop.
In this photo The color Hue is on the wall with the bold color of green with white book shelve as your contrast color but what’s interesting here is that both of your colors (hues) stands out. The book shelves stand out along with the bold wall this is what you call a sharp contrast but both stands to complement each other.
Check out this wedding board the bold hues of blue against the white and the beige will really stand out in this wedding.  Here’s to something blue.

The Hue here is on the red wall and then you see it again with the black headboard red bedding with the white and what about the red hue in the accessories.

What a romantic bed with the hue being lots of red in the bed and the white sheets. Beautiful

 Red Hue

So if this was a test!!! Where is the hue in this room? "I know this is soooo easy that I shouldn't ask"  But I had to.

Well I just love the pop of pink hue from the table and what about the pop of hue from the yellow art and the yellow lamp and we can’t forget the yellow hue on the pillows Oh I almost forgot that green table lamp on the pink hue table.  Wow this room is full of hue and I love it. This room rocks!!! Wait one minute!! Did you see the gray floors in the room totally unexpected?

Rihanna  sporting her  shocking 'do has lots of hue. Her do is amazing with the shocking hue red it looks so good with the pink fuchsia shirt Wow I'm feeling it.

What do you think!!! Are both hue and color the same? Are you encouraged to work with bold colors (hues) on your walls and furniture?

Come on!!! Let me know what you think!!
